Day 2 - Love God

The walk of a Christian today is not an easy one. Life would often be much simpler if we didn’t need to examine our choices, attitudes, or paths in life against God’s intended path for us. So if we’re doing this whole Christian thing, it’s really important to remember why…because we LOVE GOD! And we know that he wholeheartedly, unconditionally, and all-encompassingly loves us! More than we could ever imagine. 

Deuteronomy 6:5 (NIV)

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

While His love for us is never in question, unfortunately, we are human. We get distracted. We prioritize poorly. We just forget. It’s like the old adage, “Out of sight, Out of mind.” We allow God to be out of our sight for too long and we forget our entire purpose on this earth is to Love God.

Because he knew we’d forget, Jesus, reminds us in the New Testament, almost word for word what we were instructed in Deuteronomy.

Matthew 22:37-40 (NIV)

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment

Today our prayer is that we would remember to Love God. That this is our first and greatest commandment. If we can do this even a fraction as wholeheartedly, unconditionally, and all-encompassingly as God does for us, everything else will fall into place. It is real and tangible that we could be in step with God. Today, pray to God to reveal to you what it looks like to truly love him will all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength and watch Him do amazing things.
