Day 14 - Launch Sunday

2 Samuel 7:5-7 (NLT)

“Go and tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord has declared: Are you the one to build a house for me to live in? I have never lived in a house, from the day I brought the Israelites out of Egypt until this very day. I have always moved from one place to another with a tent and a Tabernacle as my dwelling. Yet no matter where I have gone with the Israelites, I have never once complained to Israel’s tribal leaders, the shepherds of my people Israel. I have never asked them, “Why haven’t you built me a beautiful cedar house?”’

We have a brand-new life-giving church starting up here in Omaha. The church is full of life and people that you can connect with. We believe Dwell Church is going to change people’s lives including you and me. You should come to check it out, I promise you won’t regret it. We always say Dwell Church is fresh, alive, and brand-new. Now is the time to get involved at the ground level. Dwell Church’s official launch date will be on February 26th, 2023.

Omaha has a population of over one million and is rapidly growing — quickly becoming one of the most sought-after places to live in America. As new development and renovations continue to revive Downtown, Midtown, and North Omaha, the area is lacking the spiritual support needed to match its growth. Many of Omaha’s influential churches are located in the suburbs. We believe the people who live, work, and play in this area of town deserve a church in their neighborhood — as does everyone who lives in an under-reached area.

This opening passage from 2 Samuel speaks to the heart and mission of launching a brand new church in Downtown Omaha. We believe here at Dwell, God is asking where His presence dwells with His people in Omaha. We have heard so many reasons why a church cannot work in Downtown Omaha, It's too expensive, the people aren't open, the world is too different, too many people with different cultural backgrounds. But isn't that all the exact reasons why a church MUST exist? I believe it is. My hope and prayer as we end 14 days of prayer and fasting are that you will come along the journey with us in Dwelling with God where He wants to be.
