Day 13 - Worship
Colossians 3:16-17 (NLT)
Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
When Natalie and I sat down to dream and prayed over Dwell Church, we began to look at what we wanted the worship experience of Dwell Church to look like. We wrote this down almost 10 months ago:
“Our worship experiences will consist of passionate, heartfelt worship where value is placed on the presence of God and welcoming the broken home. Worship should feel authentic over perfect. Worship is encompassing-if you’re in the room, you are a part of it!”
I want to pull one part out of this quote here and its this,
PRESENT OVER PERFECT
When we place value in our worship on presence with God over the quality of music, or the beauty of someone's voice, we find real authentic worship. One that abandons our sense of self and looks at the creator of Heaven and Earth as someone worthy to be praised. I want to challenge you today to take time to worship God. That may look like music playing in your car or in your headphones while you cook dinner. Maybe it's just a quiet time praying or journaling about how good God has been in your life. Whatever it may be let it take the focus off the worries of this world and give God glory.
